The small town of Grecia is located 20 km from Alajuela. You get there by car in 20 minutes or by bus (30 min) from Alajuela on a regular basis (every 30 min.). A bus stop is situated 50 m from the hotel Coconut House or in downtown Alajuela.

Zoo Ave in Alajuela

In this zoo which specializes on birds, rare animals are bred to be released again in nature. You can watch a great variety of birds like toucans, parrots, hummingbirds and quetzals. There also a few species of monkeys and reptiles.
